Whether you’re a devoted fan or just curious about his age, career, and family, this article is your fast, fun guide to all things Theo.
Theo James, born Theodore Peter James Kinnaird Taptiklis, celebrates his birthday on December 16, 1984. That makes him 39 years old (as of 2026). A winter baby with a classic Sagittarius spirit, he brings that adventurous energy to every role he picks. His career didn’t start with blockbusters. After studying philosophy at the University of Nottingham, Theo trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He kicked off acting in British TV series like Bedlam and The Inbetweeners. But his big break came in 2014 when he landed the role of Tobias “Four” Eaton in the Divergent franchise. Since then, he’s shown range in the horror hit Underworld: Awakening and the HBO satire The White Lotus, proving he’s far more than a teen-dream face.
On the family front, Theo is refreshingly private—but we know the essentials. He married actress Ruth Kearney in 2018, his longtime partner whom he met at drama school. The couple has two children, a son and a daughter, though they keep their little ones far from the spotlight. His British-Greek heritage (his mother is Greek) also gives him that distinctive, Mediterranean charm you can’t miss.
