Don’t forget the Lake District. Yes, it rains. But that’s why the lakes are so full. Go to Windermere, get a steamer ticket, and just sit inside the warm boat watching the mountains drip with water. It’s weirdly romantic.
Or go to the Peak District. Bakewell is lovely in February. You can eat a proper Bakewell pudding, walk the Monsal Trail (it’s flat, so no one complains), and be back in the car before the afternoon nap hits.
Honestly? Pick any of these. The secret isn’t the destination. It’s the permission to do less. So go on. Book the break. You’ve earned it. And if all else fails, there’s always a huge box of chocolates in the car.
