Most renovation shows are stressful. People yell. Budgets explode. This one is different. It’s about two people who genuinely love the process, even when it’s a disaster. They celebrate every tiny win, like a working lightbulb or a door that doesn’t stick.
You’ll laugh at their mistakes. You’ll cry (a little) at their victories. And you’ll crave Italian food by episode two. The show is a comfort blanket of pure, unadulterated joy. It’s like a holiday you don’t have to pack for.
The Guest Cast: A Parade of Characters
Local artisans pop in to help. There’s a stone mason who looks like a Roman emperor. A baker who brings them fresh focaccia and judges their tiling skills. And a cat named Sophia Loren who adopts Alan. She has more screen presence than some actors.
Their families also make cameos. Amanda’s husband shows up and promptly gets put to work. Alan’s mother calls to check if he’s eaten. It’s sweet, domestic, and very real.
Amanda & Alan's Italian Job: Trailer : ABC iview
You’ll find yourself googling Italian villas halfway through an episode. Don’t do it. You’ll only get sad. Or inspired. Probably both.
