OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode. Sounds like something from a sci-fi lab, right? But it’s actually simple.
Think of a regular TV as a flashlight behind a stencil. The flashlight is always on, and the stencil (the screen) blocks light to make dark parts. OLED flips that idea on its head.
With OLED, each tiny pixel is its own tiny light bulb. If a pixel needs to be black? It just turns off completely. Poof. Gone. No light. That’s the magic.
