Your Nissan will give you hints. Maybe the unlock range shrinks from “across the parking lot” to “you must press the button against the driver’s window.” Or worse, the car’s dashboard flashes a little battery icon with a key, like a sad emoji telling you to get your act together.
You might also notice the car beeps when you walk away, as if saying, “Hey, I’m still here, you absolute legend… but please fix me.” That’s your cue. Time to act.
