Here’s a trick that will make you feel like a wizard. Before you apply any sharpening filter, right-click your layer and choose Convert to Smart Object. This makes the filter non-destructive.
Why does this matter? Because if you sharpen too much and your photo starts looking like stressed vinyl, you can go back and edit the filter later. No permanent damage. It’s a safety net for your clumsy fingers.
You can even apply multiple sharpening filters to that same smart object, and Photoshop will stack them like pancakes. Yum, but for your eyes.
