Last I heard, she’s decorating her second bedroom. As a “craft room.” For crafts. She doesn’t do crafts. But she can, because she has space. She might take up pottery. Or hoarding. Who knows? The point is: she has options. Options, and a slightly lower blood pressure.
Will she ever go back to London? For a visit, maybe. To see the sights. To pay £12 for a pint. To marvel at how everyone is still running on the hamster wheel. But home? Home is now a place where your rent doesn’t require a second mortgage.
So cheers to Emily. And to everyone else staring at their rent notice, calculator in shaking hand. The north is calling. It sounds like a crisp £500 monthly saving. And honestly? It rains a lot less than crying over your bank app.
Pass the eccles cake. We’re home.
