If you want to test your limits, ride the Jubilee Line at Westminster station. It’s 32 meters down. The escalator is so long it has a “walk left, stand right” sign that feels like a life sentence.
For a real challenge, find the Victoria Line platforms. They’re only 20 meters deep, but the escalators are steep. You’ll lean backward like you’re on a ski slope.
And remember: the deepest spot on the entire network isn’t Hampstead platform. It’s the shaft at Northern Line’s Highgate—a ventilation tunnel that goes 70 meters down. That’s deeper than the Chunnel. Don’t drop your phone in there.
