Okay, fine, no place is perfect. The Wi-Fi is… let’s call it humble. It works for checking the weather forecast, but don’t plan on streaming a movie. Honestly, that’s a feature, not a bug. You’re here to disconnect. (And if you must scroll Instagram, the 4G signal from the nearby hill is surprisingly decent—just stand on one leg and hold the phone above your head.)

Also, the local sheep have zero respect for personal space. They will wander through your pitch, inspect your pegs, and stare at you while you eat your sandwich. My one photo of the trip is a sheep giving me the side-eye while I tried to use a map. That map. The one that got eaten.
Why You Should Book Now
Look, if you want a luxury spa retreat, go to a hotel. But if you want the best base for exploring dark skies, green hills, and ancient pubs, this is it. The site is run by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, so you get their usual high standards—and a sense that someone actually cares about the loos.
It’s a place for doers. People who wake up early to catch the sunrise over the Fan. People who come back muddy and proud. People who laugh when a sheep steals their navigation. I lost a map, but I found a whole new level of calm. And the beer at the neighbouring pub (The Star, Talybont-on-Usk) is worth every mile of the drive.
So go. Pitch up. Let the hills do their thing. And maybe bring a spare map. You’ll thank me later.
