Look, “best” is a silly word. Paris has romance, Rome has ruins, Tokyo has vending machines that sell umbrellas and battery-operated friends. London has a man who shouts about the end of the world on a soapbox near Hyde Park and you can still get a great cappuccino while ignoring him. That’s a pretty special combo. It’s messy, expensive, and the rent will make you consider moving to a tent in Scotland. But it’s also the only city where you can visit a 1,000-year-old castle, eat the best falafel of your life, watch a play by Shakespeare, and then get yelled at by a pigeon in a single afternoon.
So, is London the best city in the world? Yes. Absolutely. But only if you can afford a flat with a working heater. And if you can’t? Well, it’s still the best. We just call it “character.” Now, pass the tea.
