Here’s the final, undeniable truth: JD Sports is a franchise beast. A store in Manchester might open at 8:00 AM, but the one in rural Cornwall might not open until 10:00 AM because the manager is still defrosting his Volvo. The internet is your friend. Use it. Google the specific store the night before, or you’ll be that person staring sadly at a closed shutter at 9:15 AM.
Hundreds of shoppers cram into Selfridges for Boxing Day sale but
Also, a pro tip: don’t call the store on Boxing Day. The phone will ring into the abyss. They’re too busy dealing with Kevin the orphaned slipper to answer your questions.
Final Words of Wisdom (and Survival)
Wear comfortable shoes. Yes, the irony is not lost on me. You’re queuing to buy shoes, so wear your current ones like they’re your last. Bring water. Bring snacks. I’ve seen people pull out Tupperware boxes of cold pizza at 7:15 AM. That’s the level of commitment we’re talking about.
And remember: the Boxing Day sales aren’t about saving money. They’re about conquest. You want to come home with a bag, a story, and maybe a bruised ego. If you can return with all three, you’ve won Boxing Day. If you also got a pair of trainers that actually fit? That’s a miracle.
Now go forth. Queue early. Be brave. And for the love of all that is holy, don’t forget to check the hours.
