Imagine a thunderclap following you across the sky. That’s what Concorde did. It was banned from flying over land at supersonic speed. So it only did the ocean legs.
Even then, the boom was so loud it pissed off everyone on the coast. So the plane was a luxury for the Atlantic elite. Not exactly a global revolution, you know?
And the fuel cost? A single round trip burned more fuel than a small car does in a lifetime. Okay, I’m exaggerating. But not by much. It was a fuel-guzzling dinosaur.
